changes

my first instinct here is to shut down this whole blog and start over again fresh. In my moments of anger I want to remove every picture of him and all traces that he ever existed in my life. In the end it comes down to the fact that no matter how hurt I may be he will always be my childrens father and no matter what personal feelings I have towards him I could never say that he is a bad father. He loves his children and they love him and they enjoy looking at this blog and seeing pictures of them.

So, I have decided not to alter any of the past slide shows and blog posts. I am moving on and obviously our family is completely different now but it is impossible to erase him from our past. Even the title of our blog: "the romero family, moments in the life of one crazy family" is still relevant. We are a different kind of family now but being single doesn't make my little group of three here any less of a family.

starting over

It has been such a long time sice I've sat down to work on the blog. These past 9 months have been a whirlwind and I can't imagine trying to sort it all out in my head enough to put it into words. Those of you who are close to me know whats been going on and that I am working hard at moving on and starting over. I will admit that there are times when I feel like my head is spinning with how quickly and unexpectidly life can change.

If all of this has taught me anything it is that I am stronger then I thought. I am blessed to be called mommy by the two most wonderful children in the world. Their strength and resilience through this amazes me every day. How could I ever completely regret the past when it is those choices that brought these crazy little guys into my life. They are my joy and the reason for everything that I do.

It will be a long path and there are still lots of changes to come I am sure but I know that whatever happens the three of us will make it together and everything will turn out just fine.

40 years!

40 years! The news station reported today that this is the most snow we've seen in this area in 40 years! Crazy! I tried to take a few persepective pictures so you can see just how deep it is out there. about 10 inches was my ruff estimate yesterday and yes, that is a peice of ice amy is holding in the last picture....we had a layer of ice covering the snow yesterday when we went out to play, it was bizarre!

Our Christmas letter

Dear family and Friends, we planned on sending out Christmas cards but I procrastinated and then when it started snowing I completely gave up on the idea. Thank goodness that most of our loved ones have access to a computer!

We have had another eventful and crazy year. Just when I think that I am reaching a stage in my life when things will stay pretty tranquil for awhile I am proved wrong! Nicolas is enjoying first grade at his new school and has made many new friends. He is blessed with a wonderful teacher whom he adores and he loves to learn, especially math! Nicolas is the only kid I know who tears up when I tell him he has no school because of the snow! Amy is finishing her second year of preschool and I can hardly believe how she has grown. This preschool has been so good for her, it is such an important age for kids as they learn to interact socially with others. She eagerly runs off to school now, such a change from the tears that I used to get so often last year.

Both kids took swimming lessons for the first time this summer and can’t wait to get back in the pool in the spring. Nicolas is flying through his little dragon belts and runs around the house showing me how he is a ninja turtle! Amy started Ballet this spring and is my sweet little ballerina; after watching her brother in activities for so long she is thrilled to have something that is all her own.

Mami y Papi have been keeping ourselves busy as well, we thank God that our business has held steady and strong even in these tuff times and thank all of our loyal and wonderful customers. Marcelo was able to take a trip to Ecuador in November with Mami Bachi and they had a wonderful time visiting with family and friends that they haven’t seen in so long. I keep myself busy around the house with all of my little projects, helping Marcelo with work and I am loving the opportunities that I get to volunteer at Nicolas’ school. Who knew I would become one of those “PTA moms”! We are still enjoying our new neighborhood and have met some wonderful people here, I couldn’t ask for a better place to raise my children.

Those of you who know me well know that Christmas is my favorite time of year. I love the lights and the music, the fantasy of Santa clause and (this year especially) the quiet peace of the snow. We all get busy and overly focused on the day to day of live and it is nice to use this time of year as an excuse to step back from our lives and come together; to show the love and adoration we have for one another. I acknowledge daily in my heart how blessed I am to be where I am. We have the normal ups and downs that all families face from time to time but the love at our core is strong and we have surrounded ourselves with strong loving people who help us daily to be better ourselves.

This year especially the kids have had a lot of questions about the diversity that surrounds us here…wondering about other peoples traditions and beliefs. It has been fun for us to learn together about the many different holidays that those around us celebrate.

Christmas music is blaring and I hear the kids giggling down the hall. I hope you all have a wonderful December and I wish you the love and the peace that we have found here.

Happy Holidays
Megan and all the Romero Family
