we are gardeners

Amy has got the gardening bug! Thanks to our friend Mickey and her great "seed planting party" Amy has discovered her love of digging in the dirt and watching things grow. Mami does not have such a green thumb and it has been a challenge for me to keep plants alive in the past. We now have 3 little pots growing amazingly well on our kitchen windowsill -cilantro, peas and some flower that I can't remember the name of. This past week we took a special trip to Home Depot where a nice lady walked us around explaing as simply as possible how to pick, plant (and keep alive!) flowers in our front yard.

So, Nicolas, Amy and I took our plants, shovels and dirt and got super dirty! It was a lot of fun and the kids are very proud of their plants and check on them daily. And it really is nice to have some color in the front yard. Who would have guessed my kids would like gardening?

Spring Break

Spring break as a mother is definitly different from the whoo hoo lets party days of college. This is my first real spring break as a mom, the past 5 years I'm not sure I even noticed that spring break was occuring except that our regular haunts were extra crowded with older kids. It is exciting to be able to sleep in and not be so rushed in the morning no snacks to pack, no lost shoes to find at 8 am. However, keeping a 5 and 4 year old occupied for 14 hours straight is a challenge. We had our extra special trip to the childrens museum yesterday which was a blast! It has been quite a while since we have gone and it is fun to see how independant they have grown.

This morning we woke up the kids yelling "its snowing its snowing!". Not exactly what we were wanting to hear when all mommy wants to do is rush my little monkeys out the door to the park. But they had fun running around in the front yard 9in the pjs at 7:30 this morning catching snowflakes on their tongue. I will keep my fingers crossed for warmer weather tomorrow so we can acctually go to the park.

Calm after the storm

I keep planning on sitting down to write about all of the craziness that is our family over the past month....but I am tired and ready to move so I won't. After a month of Birthday party planning, family reunion excitement and lots of company I am ready to take a deep breath and finally get back to normal life.

The past month has been full of so much emotion, overwhelming joy and overwhelming hurt. If nothing else I have learned valuable lessons...I have learned how very blessed I am to be surrounded by people that love me and support me. I have learned to prioritize my life- what and who are the most important to me and do they know it?

Life has truly been good to me and I thank God daily for blessing me with the gift of being a mother to two incredibly sweet and intelligent kids, a wife to a supportive and strong husband, friend to irreplacable and beautiful ladies, sister to an amazing and intelligent women and daughter to not only wise parents by blood but by two parents in law who have taken me into their arms and hearts and taught me unconditional love.
